building

Originally constructed in 1995, Greenway Park Elementary School has had better than average energy performance for several years. This 83,840-square-foot school has a dual temperature system that feeds multi-zone air handling units for the administration, media center, cafeteria, and multipurpose area. The classroom areas are heated and cooled using fan-coil units.

The lighting was designed with dual switching, which utilizes four-bulb fixtures, switching two inboard bulbs and two outboard bulbs in the classrooms.

This facility's energy use has declined every year since the 2006?2007 school year except for one year when there were boiler problems. In 2009?2010, the facility operated at 41,000 BTUs per square foot, putting it in the lowest 5 percent of our facilities.

Congratulations to the staff and students for this accomplishment!
