This is one of four buildings on Kelly Services' corporate campus in Troy, Michigan. Built in 1986, it consists of four stories and houses a variety of functions including payroll and recruiting.

Kelly Services Corporate Facilities department manages this office building and took initiative to improve the building's energy usage. The team conducted a series of benchmarking exercises with the outline of ENERGY STAR and the Building Owners and Managers Association. The result was a number of facility enhancements which earned the building an ENERGY STAR rating.

The following are just a few examples of the measures that Kelly Services took to improve energy usage at this facility on the corporate campus.
 

?              Replaced T12 fixtures with T5 fixtures, resulting in energy savings of 20 percent

?              Updated Operations and Maintenance practices which increased indoor air quality by 15 percent

?              Modernized the economizer system to achieve energy savings of 10 percent

?              Optimized HVAC programming

?              Replaced pneumatic air-compressor with a high-efficiency scroll compressor.


In addition, the staff is working to identify Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
(LEED) compliant measures in order to increase the building's sustainability. The company is also subsidizing its electrical power by purchasing renewable energy from a local utility provider.

Attainment of the ENERGY STAR rating is a fitting addition to Kelly's strong environmental commitment. The company's sustainability program, "recognize", is outlined in the following policy statement. "Kelly Services recognizes our collective responsibility to protect our planet. We are committed to a policy of preservation, conservation, and waste-reduction on a company-wide, community-wide, and worldwide scale."
