Marbrook Elementary School bases its educational approach on building each child's natural abilities.  To help the school staff continue to fulfill its mission, Red Clay Consolidated School District completed an evaluation of existing building conditions and future educational needs for each of its facilities.

The district, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2007, invested over 3 million dollars in facility improvements for Marbrook Elementary School.  Recommended renovation work was concentrated in the following major areas:  1) renovation to the existing facility, including library and required ADA upgrades; 2) renovation and upgrade of the existing heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems; 3) renovation to the existing electrical, data, and security systems; 4) replacement of the original plumbing fixtures and associated piping; and 5) a new fire protection/sprinkler system.

ENERGY STAR Guidelines for Energy Management were followed throughout the design and purchasing decisions for these major capital projects.  Data compiled through Portfolio Manager and its reports help verify that these improvements maximize the use of the school's energy resources

Communications:

* Share "Statement of Energy Performance:  Facility Summary" monthly with the school community
* Publish articles in the local media and school newsletter and post information on the school's Web site
* Provide resources and data to techers and studnets for use with class projects
* Present at facility, parent and school board meetings

Testimonial:

I would like to thank the Marbrook staff, parents and community for working together to earn the ENERGY STAR.  Our school team will continue to work together to improve our energy performance.

-- Bradford Holstein, Principal, Marbrook Elementary
