Forest Oak Elementary School emphasizes the importance of learning through mutual respect and cooperation. An ENERGY STAR partner since 2007, Red Clay Consolidated School District spent 18 months completing a comprehensive evaluation of its existing building conditions and future educational needs. The school board, administration, faculty, staff, and community determined that Forest Oak Elementary School would benefit from a number of improvements.
Preparing Forest Oak Elementary School for the energy demands and environmental concerns of this new century required an investment of approximately 5 million dollars. The major areas of improvement were focused on the following building systems: 1) repair, replacement, and/or upgrade of heating and air-conditioning systems and 2) upgrade of the electrical and phone systems, primarily by correcting the electrical distribution throughout the building and upgrading lighting conditions in the kitchen. Various interior enhancements were also made, including library upgrades and classroom additions.
ENERGY STAR Guidelines for Energy Management were followed throughout the design and purchasing decisions for these major capital projects. Data compiled through EPA's Portfolio Manager help school officials ensure that these improvements maximize the use of their energy resources.

Testimonial:
"Forest Oak Elementary School is pleased to receive the ENERGY STAR for our energy conservation efforts. Our team insures that classroom doors and windows are closed during the heating and cooling season and makes a concerted effort to turn off lights and computers when they are not being used. We understand the importance of supporting the cost-saving measures that our district takes to conserve resources."
