Harrison Intermediate, Wylie ISD
1001 South Ballard Street
Wylie, TX 75098
Built in 1967, Harrison Intermediate served the community for more than 25 years as a high school before being converted to an intermediate school. Our energy-related work has focused on the following areas: (1) retrofitting of all old T-12 lighting with high-efficiency T-8 lighting; (2) reviewing and adjusting the energy management system controls for the school; (3) replacement of 25-year-old roof and insulation with higher R-value materials; and (4) replacement of all exterior door weatherstripping throughout the building. This school is an all-electric school and one of the oldest in the Wylie Independent School District.
Harrison Intermediate has been an ENERGY STAR partner since 2009 and an ENERGY STAR certified school since 2009.
?Through the hard work of my Maintenance and Facilities Department, all the students, and teachers, Harrison Intermediate has become one our most efficient schools while still being the second oldest school in Wylie ISD?all of this being accomplished with our only all-electric school.? -- Don Pool, Director of Facilities and Maintenance, Wylie Independent School District
