The St. Athanasius School is a K-8 school located in the Borough of the Bronx, in New York City. It is situated on a 2-acre campus and comprised of one building with four (4) floors having a total floor area of 48,194 square feet. Built in 1965, it is of brick and steel frame construction with a flat roof on concrete deck. The building has undergone a major renovation in 2010 under an FAA sound proofing grant. 

Included in the renovations were the following:
-- Replaced existing windows with acoustically designed operable windows using an energy efficient, airtight mount system. The winter heat loss and summer heat gains were reduced dramatically due to the windows installed.
-- Addition of direct digital control (DDC) of the existing hot water heating system and new AC system.
-- Replacement of heating system hot water circulation pumps with high efficiency pumps and motors.
-- Insulation of hot water mains and distribution piping.
-- Lifecycle analysis in the selection of energy-efficient ventilation and air conditioning system.
-- Individual temperature controlled ventilation and air conditioning for each classroom.
-- Energy-efficient gas-fired dual effect absorption chiller for school wide air conditioning.
-- Classroom light fixtures were upgraded to T8 florescent light fixtures.

The building is undergoing commissioning and final project acceptance.
