The Ontario facility is regularly benchmarked against each of the 23 Heinz facilities in North America. The Ontario facility is dedicated to improving energy efficiency through focused conservation efforts as well as thoughtful investment in energy efficiency projects.

Over the past several years, facility employees have been engaged in the energy conservation process through the commissioning of sustainability teams, which focus on real-time usage in various plant processes. Additionally, employees are encouraged to identify and communicate opportunities for energy efficiency through project implementation.

Recent investments include a Compressed Air Optimization Project, and upgrades to both Refrigeration System Controls and Boiler Controls. When compared against a fiscal year 2008 baseline, energy efficiency has improved by 6.15% in electrical use, and 4.18% in natural gas use.
