Founded in 1936 as Sugar Kake Cookie, the Tonawanda plant was acquired by Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. in 1998 and included in the company’s Bremner Food Group. The facility produces traditional sandwich crèmes in various flavors.

As a part of Ralcorp Holdings, Inc.’s Bremner Food Group, the Tonawanda manufacturing facility has benefited from participation in energy reduction programs from the plant, division, and corporate levels. Key to this coordinated reduction initiative has been the ability to share in new ideas across multiple facilities and business units. This effort has resulted in successfully implementing projects that replaced existing lights with energy-efficient lighting, motion-sensor lighting controls in non-manufacturing areas, and improved energy efficiency of oven burners. In addition, the plant has been able to upgrade equipment on various plant utility systems, which has further improved its energy efficiency.

The employees of Bremner Food Group’s Tonawanda facility are proud to be one of the plants earning the 2010 ENERGY STAR certification, which is the first year that commercial bakeries have been eligible to earn the certification.
