The CEMEX Clinchfield plant was founded in the mid 1920's using wet process kiln technology.  The plant was modernized using the pre-heater technology during the year 1973 which reduced the power and heat demands by 40 percent from their old levels.

Today CEMEX Clinchfield plant is the only cement producing facility in the state of Georgia, reaching clients all over the state and further to Alabama, and the Carolinas.  The plant has an annual installed capacity of around 830,000 tons of Clinker and 920,000 tons of cement production.  Plant produces Portland cement type 1 and colored base type N and S cements.

CEMEX Clinchfield plant has earned the ENERGY STAR for two consecutive years: 2007 and 2008.

CEMEX Clinchfield employees and the plant contribute to the vitality of education. They dedicate themselves to causes, such as sponsoring Tucker Elementary School through supporting educational testing (CRCT), giving educational plant tours to the Perry youth Leadership Program's High Achievement Class in order to give greater insight about the cement industry, and taking Valdosta State University students on a quarry tour in search of fossils.

The Clinchfield plant cares about the community.  Twice a year, the Clinchfield plant participates in the Adopt-A-Highway program.  Employees maintain and clean-up two miles of Highway 341 throughout the year.

CEMEX has a company wide Energy Management Program based on the ENERGY STAR guidelines.  Under this program, the Clinchfield plant has a Site Energy Team which helps the plant progressively apply good energy practices promoted by ENERGY STAR.

Energy conservation efforts of plant include:

              Reducing heat losses in kilns

Refurbishment work in major process areas

              Employee training and awareness

Reducing machinery down time by automatic shutoff when not required

As a result of the above-mentioned energy conservation measures, the plant has been able to save 1,282 MWh of electrical energy consumptions during the year.
