Youth Partnerships

If your organization is interested in community and/or youth outreach, then you can leverage your participation in the Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR campaign to make something happen. The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and PTO Today are both working with EPA to educate kids, their families, and their communities about how to save energy and money and help prevent climate change. Participation can be at a local or National level, depending on your organization type or goals. Here are some ideas for how you can support their efforts and, in turn, show your commitment to community service and the environment:

Work with Go Green Night Schools

PTO Today School Family NightsThrough EPA's nationwide partnership with PTO Today, local Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs and PTAs) at K8 schools across the country will host Go Green Nights - school-based events that teach kids and their families about energy efficiency in fun and engaging ways. Thousands of schools in all 50 states have already signed up to host a night, creating many opportunities for your organization to join in. Pledge drivers and partners can consider the following activities:

  • Provide needed resources and/or services to support a project or projects - from products and materials to educational assistance and volunteers. If someone in your organization has expertise in energy-efficiency issues and would like to speak to a youth and parent audience, consider having the individual make a family-friendly presentation.
  • Provide an informational display for Go Green Nights in select markets. You can either bring an existing display with staffing to one or more Go Green Nights or create an event in a box with instructions and materials for the PTO leader to set up a free-standing, branded, information station with no staffing.
  • Donate products or premiums (including coupons or rebates) for use as giveaways or prizes at Go Green Nights.
  • Consider running a sweepstakes with a grand prize giveaway for schools hosting events.
  • If youre a local energy-efficiency service provider, coordinate Clubs activities with local retailers, manufacturers, or other organizations that might like to help. Put your business contacts to work.
  • More. Were open to ideas! Just contact us at changetheworld@cadmusgroup.com and well help you get started.

Work with a Boys & Girls Club of America

Boys and Girls Club of AmericaThrough EPAs partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, kids from more than 30 clubs coast-to-coast will take part in energy-efficiency community service projects from now until 2011. These grass-roots efforts offer numerous opportunities for your organization to get involved. Pledge drivers and partners can consider the following activities:

  • Provide needed resources and/or services to support a project or projects - from products and materials to educational assistance and volunteers. If someone in your organization has expertise in energy-efficiency and would like to speak to a youth audience, consider having the individual make a kid-friendly presentation.
  • Donate products or premiums (including coupons or rebates) for use as giveaways or prizes for a Club project or the Club, itself, for their accomplishments.
  • Host a project and/or coordinate a location for the project with event displays, product samples, and/or educational information. If your workplace would make an interesting site for a field trip, let us know.
  • Help recognize a Clubs efforts in your local or national media. Feature the kids activities on your Web site or in newsletters.
  • If youre a local energy-efficiency service provider, coordinate Clubs activities with local retailers, manufacturers, or other organizations that might like to help. Put your business contacts to work.
  • Identify or suggest a project for a Club, and provide expertise, mentorship, and financial support to execute it.
  • More. Were open to ideas! Just contact us at changetheworld@cadmusgroup.com and well help you get started.
