Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation, is one of the largest combined natural gas and electric utilities in the United States. Based in San Francisco, with 20,000 employees, the company delivers some of the nation's cleanest energy to 15 million people in northern and central California. PG&E customers have been national leaders in the application of energy efficiency technologies and techniques. During the last 30 years these efforts have helped keep per capita electricity consumption in California flat, while per capital energy consumption nationwide has increased steadily. Since the inception of PG&E's energy efficiency programs, customers have saved more than $22 billion on their energy bills and avoided the release of more than 135 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. PG&E has a long history of partnering with ENERGY STAR to promote energy efficiency products and new technologies.
