Gunnison County Electric Association
Gunnison County Electric Association was incorporated in 1938 under the Rural Electric Administration program to bring electricity to the Gunnison Valley. We energized our first consumer on December 7, 1941 and now have over 10,000 meters on more than 1,000 miles of distribution line.
As a member owned non-profit, we focus on our member needs and work for the sustainable development of our community. GCEA offers a variety of energy efficiency programs to our members. We are also investigating the potential for generating renewable energy locally.
The Doyleville Wind Energy project was developed to educate members about the potential for wind energy. We are also investigating the potential for hydropower and solar power projects.
