Farmington Woods Elementary School
In January 2003 Farmington Woods IB/PYP Magnet Elementary became the first school in North Carolina to be authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization as a Primary Years Programme. It won the national award of being a "Distinguished Magnet School" in 2008.
Farmington Woods IB/PYP believes that the PYP is the best education for all children; therefore it continues to seek ways to strengthen the program and nurture students who are excited about a lifetime of learning.
The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme emphasizes academic challenges, international understanding, community service, and mental and physical well-being. The PYP programme seeks to develop the total child by addressing intellectual, social, physical, emotional and cultural needs. The curriculum framework includes five essential elements - concepts, actions, skills, knowledge, attitudes.
