Altus' current mission is enabling global mobility by expertly training airlift and aerial refueling aircrews to achieve global reach and power while simultaneously maintaining worldwide deployment capabilities.The host unit at Altus is the 97th Air Mobility Wing (97 AMW), which is a part of theAir Education and Training Command's Nineteenth Air Force. The Commander of the 97 AMW is Colonel David W. Allvin, the Vice Commander is Colonel Michael R. Mendonca and the Command Chief is Chief Master Sergeant Philip G. Topper.
