The teams in the 2011 ENERGY STAR National Building Competition worked hard to save energy and come out on top in this year’s competition. Many of the teams organized fun events in their communities, reached out to their employees, and found creative ways to reduce the energy use of their buildings. The National Building Competition has stimulated engagement amongst the University of Central Florida (UCF) student community. After hearing about the University’s involvement in the competition, a College of Engineering Senior Design Team came forward to share a power-generating platform with the Department. read more
Scientific Instruments installed an instantaneous tankless water heater in the lunch room kitchen under the sink and replaced all inside light bulbs with LED light bulbs. read more
The National Building Competition has helped the hospital staff focus on energy efficiency in a more detailed and measurement-driven way, generating a renewed excitement about energy conservation at all levels of the organization. read more
Communication with the congregation about the ENERGY STAR National Building Competition has created an appreciation for and discussion about the very real environmental and financial impacts of energy conservation. The competition has energized members and caused the team to think more creatively about additional steps that can be taken in the building. read more
Working with the ENERGY STAR program and participating in campaigns like the National Building Competition has been instrumental in communicating the team’s message about energy efficiency and environmental sustainability throughout the organization. read more
After entering the competition, Buffalo Bill Historical Center became more vocal in talking about energy efficiency with staff and enlisting them to do their part to help. Sharing successes — measurable benchmarks in energy usage and cost reductions — has helped spread enthusiasm. read more

EPA’s National Building Competition has provided media coverage and awareness of the importance of each person doing their part to reach an attainable goal of energy conservation at Crittenden County Elementary. The school even received a grant providing a free vending miser for Crittenden County’s vending machine to conserve energy. read more
Not only have the Green Team members helped improve their own building, they’ve also brought the message to other schools, performing energy audits and teaching the importance of energy conservation. read more

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Property Management Team has implemented several energy conservation projects, one of which is the installation of a new Photovoltaic Power System. read more
Across the organization, and extending to its customer base, the State Bank of Bement has become more conscious of saving energy. The competition has allowed the bank to get its small community involved in a global problem. read more
With support from the Colorado Governor's Energy Office, the district created the Energy Center, a website dedicated to engaging and empowering people to save energy. read more
