Temecula Valley Unified School District is located in the Inland Empire, one hour north of San Diego in Southern California. Temecula Valley Unified School District has been recognized by EPA as an ENERGY STAR Leader for improving the energy efficiency of its facilities by more than 10 percent compared to a 2011 baseline and as a Top Performer for achieving an average ENERGY STAR 1-100 score of 75 across its portfolio of buildings. Building on previous cost-saving measures, the district implemented a comprehensive energy management program and partnered with Cenergistic (formerly Energy Education, Inc.) in 2012 to create two full-time energy management positions fully funded by cost savings. The successful people-based conservation effort has saved more than $1.5 million in utility costs. The district remains committed to energy conservation efforts and continues to practice responsible stewardship of its resources. Compared to its baseline, the district currently prevents more than 930 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, which is equivalent to the carbon sequestered by more than 24,000 tree seedlings planted and grown for 10 years.
