Duchesne County School District is a small school district located in scenic eastern Utah. It encompasses over 750,000 square feet of space and serves nearly 4,500 students. The mission of Duchesne County School District is to assure that all students achieve at high academic levels. In 2007, District officials partnered with Energy Education, Inc. to implement the company's people-driven, transformational energy management plan. Duchesne County School District has been an ENERGY STAR partner since 2009. These successful partnerships have led to significant energy efficiency improvements and have instilled a sustainable energy ethic throughout the district.
Duchesne County School District has been recognized by EPA as an ENERGY STAR Leaders Top Performer for achieving an energy performance score of 82 across its portfolio of buildings. Since 2007, the District has experienced savings amounting to more than $625,000 and has eliminated over 500 metric tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of the annual emissions from over 100 vehicles. District administrators attribute these saving to numerous improvements in energy consumption habits, including on-site training and oversight by energy specialists.
