Seaford School District educates approximately 3,500 K-12 students across six school buildings that, on average, are 61 years old. In addition, all six of these schools have earned the ENERGY STAR. The district has assessed the energy performance of all of its schools and undertaken improvements. Energy conservation efforts are making a difference - electrical consumption and peak demand usage are down significantly.


The district has continued energy improvements since joining ENERGY STAR in 2005 and is being recognized by EPA as an ENERGY STAR Top Performer for achieving an average ENERGY STAR energy performance score of 95 across its portfolio of buildings. EPA has previous recognized Seaford School District as an ENERGY STAR Leader for improving energy efficiency by at least 10 percent and as a Top Performer in 2006. The district is continuing energy efficiency improvements along with testing and planning opportunities for alternative energy sources. Its ongoing focus is on reducing cost/pollution while providing high quality, comfortable learning environments.
