Located in the East San Francisco Bay Area, Dublin Unified School District serves more than 6,000 K-12 students in the city of Dublin, CA. The district has 11 campuses encompassing more than 800,000 square feet. This space includes a comprehensive high school, two middle schools, five elementary schools, a continuation high school, a district office, and an education center. The district's mission is to "...support all students in becoming lifelong learners by providing them with a rigorous and relevant education that prepares them for college/ university or service to our country and to succeed in today's global economy." One of the district's strategic objectives is to maintain a safe and healthy working environment, and to provide excellent facilities while maintaining a sound financial reserve. To that end, the district has engaged in a comprehensive energy efficiency program that fully supports educational objectives while making efficient use of limited energy resources.
Dublin Unified School District has earned recognition from EPA as an ENERGY STAR Leader for improving its energy efficiency by more than 20 percent across its portfolio of buildings. Since 2008, the District's Board of Trustees as well as our Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Beverly Heironimus, began our energy conservation program. Focusing on energy-efficient use of existing facilities, and with the assistance of Energy Education, Inc., the program philosophy is that every staff member and student is a responsible energy consumer and energy saver. In achieving this important distinction, the district has achieved more than $1.2M in cost avoidance. Dublin Unified School District is very pleased to achieve this milestone.
