EPA has recognized Sheboygan Area School District for achieving a 20 percent improvement in energy efficiency across its portfolio of buildings. The district has reduced its annual carbon emissions by more than 2,000 metric tons, the equivalent of the annual emissions of more than 300 cars or planting more than 400 acres of trees. Staff, faculty and students at Sheboygan Area School District have implemented hundreds of improvements in energy consumption habits. Their energy conservation efforts have been led by the district's energy educator/manager with ongoing on-site training and oversight from Energy Education's engineers and specialists. Sheboygan Area School District became a member of the ENERGY STAR program in 2009.
