ENERGY STAR Windows Criteria Change 2003

On May 28, 2003, The United States Department of Energy issued the final criteria for ENERGY STAR Windows. The new criteria, set to take effect on August 29, 2003, set four climate zones for windows, doors and skylights.

Criteria Process History

On February 11, 2003, the United States Department of Energy issued two alternative approaches to a new criteria for ENERGY STAR Windows. The alternatives include a three-zone approach and a four-zone approach. The Department will allow for a comment period of 45 days from the date of the letter, with comments due by March 28, 2003. The Department hopes to have the final specification in place with an effective date of August 29, 2003.
