Revisions to Existing Specifications

Audio/Video

The Version 2.0 ENERGY STAR Audio/Video Specification has been finalized as of November 16, 2009. The effective date for Tier 1 is November 16th 2009. The effective date for Tier 2 is July 30, 2010.

Commercial Hot Food Holding Cabinet Specification

Version 2.0 is currently under development.

Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers

Version 2.0 was finalized April 1, 2009. This version now covers glass door units, in addition to solid door units. Glass door units were effective immediately as a new product category, and solid door units are effective 1/1/2010.

Computers

The Version 5.0 specification took effect on July 1, 2009. Requirements for Game Consoles are under development.

Computer Servers

Tier 2 of Version 1.0 is currently under revision.

Dishwashers

The revised specification was finalized November 14, 2008. Criteria were set for two unique effective dates, August 11, 2009 and July 1, 2011.

Geothermal Heat Pumps

The ENERGY STAR specification for geothermal heat pumps (GHP) is currently under revision.

Light Commercial HVAC

Version 2.0 is currently under development. The new Tier 1 specification is proposed to take effect May 1, 2010. Tier 2 levels are proposed to take effect July 1, 2011.

Programmable Thermostats

Version 2.0 is currently under development.

Residential and Residential-Style Commercial Clothes Washers

Version 2.0 is currently under development.

Residential Light Fixtures

Version 4.3 is currently under development.

Residential Windows, Doors and Skylights

Version 5.0 was finalized April 7, 2009, effective January 4, 2010.

Set-top Boxes (STB)

The Tier 2 Version 2.0 STB specification is currently under development.

Solid State Lighting (SSL) Luminaires

Version 1.1 was finalized December 19, 2008 and went into effect February 1, 2009. Version 1.2 is currently under development.

Televisions

The Version 4.0 and 5.0 ENERGY STAR Specifications for Televisions have been finalized as of September 3, 2009. The effective date for the Version 4.0 requirements in this specification is May 1, 2010. The effective date for the Version 5.0 requirements is May 1, 2012.

Water Coolers

Version 1.1 is currently under development.
