Power Manage Computers to Save Up to $50 Per Computer Annually

ENERGY STAR Power Management features — standard in Windows and Macintosh operating systems — automatically place monitors and computers (CPU, hard drive, etc.) into a low-power "sleep mode" after a period of inactivity.¹ Simply touching the mouse or keyboard "wakes" the computer and monitor in seconds.

“After pledging in the EPA's Low Carbon IT campaign, ENERGY STAR's support team helped us understand the technical feasibility of our proposed PC Power Management solution and best practices for measuring, capturing, and quantifying savings estimates. Their quick responsiveness, expertise, and professional attitude was refreshing.” — Matt Bartow, GlaxoSmithKline

“ ENERGY STAR's support team has been an invaluable asset to FedEx during our initiative to deploy Green IT on our desktop PCs. During our testing phase many issues/concerns were uncovered that may have stopped the deployment of an enterprise rollout. They had an answer or work around solution to address any/all issues. This type of knowledge is not from a textbook, but is from actual experience in dealing with customers and compile this knowledge to hastily address the needs of other customers ” Job Well Done!!” — Dedrick Bowles, FedEx

¹EPA recommends setting computers to enter system standby or hibernate after 30 to 60 minutes of inactivity. To save even more, set monitors to enter sleep mode after 5 to 20 minutes of inactivity. The lower the setting, the more energy you save. On notebooks, be sure to activate these settings in the AC power profile — not just the DC (battery power) profile.
