Take the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry

Industrial sites take the Challenge by signing up to improve their energy efficiency by 10 percent within 5 years. Sites that achieve a 10 percent reduction in energy intensity within 5 years are recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for their commitment to protecting the environment by fighting global climate change.

Manufacturers taking the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry agree to:

  • Establish an energy intensity metric;
  • Set a baseline and 10 percent improvement goal;
  • Create a simple Energy Tracking Plan;
  • Track energy use and site production;
  • Make improvements to reduce energy intensity; and;
  • Verify energy savings and apply for recognition.
