ConocoPhillips Billings Plant holds award ceremony for the 2006 ENERGY STAR certification

We encourage you to leverage your plant certification to increase opportunities for energy efficiency. The certification is meant to be used as a tool for increasing awareness about energy efficiency within your corporation, among your plants and the community at large.

Ideas

  • Use the certification to create healthy competition between your plants
Plants that become certified should be commended publicly and championed as examples to plants that do not meet the qualifications for certification. This can be done through an awards ceremony that includes your CEO.

  • Use the plant certification to raise corporate awareness about the importance of your work managing energy in your organization
Use this award as an opportunity to show your CEO the importance of energy efficiency by converting energy savings to gallons sold or dividends gained.
  • Involve certified plant staff in writing “how we did it” stories for internal company newsletters
Elevate the importance of the plant staff’s hard work in saving energy. This can help internal energy saving champions get the recognition they deserve.
  • Hang banners in common spaces and work spaces and fly the flag
Do this as a continual reminder of energy efficiency achievement. This can help raise daily awareness about energy use and efficiency.
  • Create press releases for local news media or national media
Show your company's commitment to energy efficiency as a strategic corporate objective. Create a press release to let customers, your community, and your investors know that energy efficiency is important to your company.
