The State of California's Green Action Team, EPA's ENERGY STAR, and Flex Your Power are working together to encourage building owners across California to benchmark their energy use and make cost-effective energy efficiency investments. Their efforts are helping California buildings meet Governor Schwarzenegger's Executive Order S-20-04 to reduce energy use by 20 percent or more and supporting the EPA's ENERGY STAR Challenge to improve energy efficiency nationally by 10 percent or more. To meet these goals, California's Green Action Team is utilizing EPA's National Energy Performance Rating System, found in the ENERGY STAR tool Portfolio Manager, to measure and track the energy use of state buildings. State agency representatives, through the Green Action Team, have actively been working with the EPA to streamline the benchmarking process of state buildings in California. In addition, the statewide campaign, Flex Your Power, is encouraging all commercial buildings throughout California to rate their buildings. Through these and other efforts, including the use of ENERGY STAR tools for new building design and commodity procurement, California is supporting the ENERGY STAR Challenge. |
