Announcing the New Portfolio Manager

EPA is pleased to announce the release of a newly redesigned Portfolio Manager, with important improvements in rating the energy performance of buildings.

To maintain the integrity of the national energy performance rating system, EPA updates the system periodically as new data become available from the Department of Energy. In addition to updating the data, EPA has made technical upgrades and added new features to Portfolio Manager as part of this release. As a result, you may see changes in your buildings’ ratings. In most cases, the changes are relatively small.

*** K-12 Schools: Please read important additional information.

When EPA launched the rating system in 1999, it was the first time that organizations like yours had the ability to rate your buildings’ energy performance on a scale of 1 to 100 and earn the ENERGY STAR for superior performance. Since then, owners and managers of over 20,000 office buildings, schools, hospitals, hotels, and supermarkets have used the system, and close to 1,500 buildings have earned the ENERGY STAR. Feedback from users like you has helped EPA to redesign the rating system to ensure that it remains a valuable part of your energy management strategy.

To help you get acquainted with Portfolio Manager’s new features, a self-guided tour is available. If you have any questions, please email us at buildings@energystar.gov. You may also call the ENERGY STAR Hotline at 1-888-STAR-YES with questions about the new Portfolio Manager.
