ACHIEVE DESIGNED TO EARN THE ENERGY STAR
A design project that meets 2030 goals for fossil fuel energy reduction typically exceeds the required EPA energy performance rating of 75 from Target Finder for achieving the Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR certification. The certification is denoted by a graphic for display on architectural drawings and project literature by both the building owner and the project architect.
Action Items
- Apply for the Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR certification. Complete the Letter of Intent and SEDI. Submit documents to EPA.
- Communicate the energy efficiency intent of design projects that meet energy and CO2 reduction goals by displaying the Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR graphic on final drawings, in promotional materials, and on case studies highlighting energy design strategies.
