Manhattan — between 14th and 18th Streets
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is hosting a 10K Day pledge drive, with a public commitment to collect 10,000 ENERGY STAR Change a Light pledges statewide, and report the results on October 23, the last day of the national ENERGY STAR Change a Light Bus Tour. Union Square will serve as "10K Day headquarters" where pledge results will be reported telethon-style from across the state. Paul Tonko, president of NYSERDA, will host a press conference to announce the results together with US EPA Administrator Johnson, local elected officials, and other invited VIPs.
The bus will be set up in Union Square with its traveling Education Center, where New Yorkers can walk through the bus' traveling education center to see for themselves why choosing energy-efficient lighting and taking further steps to save energy is so important.
