Many state housing finance agencies (HFAs) have incorporated ENERGY STAR-related measures into their criteria for allocating low income housing tax credits to encourage the development of energy efficient rental housing. The ENERGY STAR program can provide cost/benefit analyses and other technical assistance to help HFAs in their decision to adopt energy efficiency measures as part of their criteria for allocating funding.
