ENERGY STAR Enhanced Testing and Verification
The ENERGY STAR products program has grown to encompass products in more than 60 categories and is used by millions of Americans in selecting products that help them save money and protect the environment. To ensure that ENERGY STAR remains a trusted symbol for environmental protection through superior efficiency, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) are pursuing enhancements for product qualification and verification. These include: qualification prior to labeling, laboratory requirements, and comprehensive verification testing.
Details on this program are available on the ENERGY STAR Web site at: www.energystar.gov/testingandverification.
EPA encourages stakeholders to participate in future stakeholder meetings and to offer comments by e-mailing: ENERGYSTARVerificationProgram@energystar.gov.
Comments on the proposed requirements presented on April 1, 2010 are due to ENERGY STAR no later than April 30, 2010.

Partner Spotlight: Supply & Equipment Foodservice Alliance (SEFA)
SEFA is a nationwide network of leading supply and equipment dealers and manufacturers. Founded in 1986 by Tedde Reid, SEFA has grown to be one of the industry’s leading CFS buying, marketing, and training groups. SEFA members are independently owned and operated CFS equipment dealers that promote and sell equipment from a wide variety of CFS manufacturers including ENERGY STAR CFS partners.
SEFA became an ENERGY STAR partner in June 2008 and nearly one-third of all SEFA members have also joined ENERGY STAR since then. These SEFA members are listed on the ENERGY STAR "Where to Buy" Web page and promote ENERGY STAR qualified CFS equipment to their customers.
SEFA member, Kessenich’s, works closely with Wisconsin's Focus on Energy (FOE)—a winner of a 2010 ENERGY STAR Award for Sustained Excellence—to promote FOE cash incentives for ENERGY STAR qualified equipment to their customers. SEFA offers Kessenich’s promotional materials, training, and group purchasing power for the CFS equipment.
This four-way partnership between SEFA, FOE, Kessenich’s, and ENERGY STAR, helps Kessenich’s boost its bottom line, increase energy efficiency in Wisconsin, and protect the environment. These efforts could not succeed without SEFA’s support of the ENERGY STAR program.
