Statement of Energy Design Intent

The Statement of Energy Design Intent (SEDI) in PDF format is a 2-page summary of the Design Energy inputs and results data from Target Finder. The SEDI can be used to document the energy intent for your design project and may be included in the Request for Proposal.

To generate the SEDI for your Design Energy Use, complete the input requirements in sections 1- 4 on the input screen in Target Finder. (See Determine the Energy Performance Rating for Design Energy Use)  The SEDI can only be generated from the Results screen.  Select View Statement of Energy Design Intent or Apply for Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR (located in upper right of the page) on the Results screen.  Note: the SEDI doesn’t display the Target results.  

SEDI Contents

Page 1 provides Facility Information (name, location, zip code, gross square feet, design energy use), Building Owner/Company Name, Professional Verification and Architect of Record Firm.  The Results for Estimated Energy Use are summarized for the "Design" and "Median Building".   The tool also calculates energy savings between your design and the median building shown under the heading "Estimated Savings".   The following Results are provided for Design, Median Buildings and Estimated Savings:

Page 2 - SEDI shows all Facility Information & Characteristics you entered for the project.  The Additional Information section displays the checklist questions that are required for projects that are being submitted for Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR certification.
