The ENERGY STAR Challenge: 2012 Race to DC

Jump in and join the Race to DC for the 2012 ENERGY STAR Challenge!

The ENERGY STAR Challenge for Architects is a call to action from EPA to incorporate energy efficiency into your projects and achieve Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR certification. To build on the momentum from last year, we need your help reducing the CO₂ footprint on the built environment.

We are jumping in to win this Race for our region and be recognized by EPA at the AIA National Convention in Washington, DC, May 17 – 19, 2012.

The Start:

Your firm can participate by using the EPA Target Finder (no-cost online tool) to find out if your design project achieves a score of 75 or higher. If so, the AOR can Apply for Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR certification for the project to be counted in the Race to DC competition.

Projects that have completed the Construction Documents phase, or are in the Construction phase, as well as Core and Shell projects may be eligible for the Race; check Project Requirements for details.

The Race:

The Race is a friendly competition among the AIA Chapters/Regional Organizations divided into three regions of the U.S.—Wild West, Big Easy Central and East Coast.

Finish Line:

All Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR project applications must be sent to EPA postmarked by April 4, 2012 to be counted in the Race.

The region that submits the most project certifications—WINS!

EPA will feature and honor the A/E firms, projects and the winning Chapters/Regional Organizations at the AIA National Convention in the ENERGY STAR Gallery and in program materials.
