2011 Race to New Orleans

CONGRATULATIONS: The Big Easy Central Region Sprints to the Finish Line.

The Winner: Earlier this year, ENERGY STAR Challenge launched a friendly competition among three U.S. regions, delineating the AIA Chapters into teams to encourage members to submit projects that achieve ENERGY STAR. Their efforts will help EPA in preventing CO2 emissions by designing commercial buildings that will use less fossil fuel energy.

The Big Easy Central region won by submitting 40 projects, lead by the firm Fanning/Howey Associates with the most projects from the state of Ohio. We also received the first House of Worship design project in New Orleans achieving ENERGY STAR.

The Results: EPA applauds all of the A/E firms and building owners for their leadership in setting energy targets, making the commitment to operate their buildings sustainably, and reducing their carbon footprint.
